Cervical Intradural Disc Herniation and Intradural Gas on CT Scan
Intradural disc herniation has been reported as a rare type of intervertebral disc herniation, only 32 cases reported. It remains difficult to definitively diagnose the disease before surgery. We reported a 55 year-old female patient complaints of nuchal pain and bilateral arm weakness after a trauma accident. MRI revealed a C3-C4 herniated intervertebral disc (HIVD) with a “hawk-beak sign.” CT...
متن کاملParaplegia by acute cervical disc protrusion after lumbar spine surgery.
Non-traumatic paraplegia caused by herniation of the cervical intervertebral disc is an uncommon postoperative complication. A patient with claudication and radiculopathy was scheduled for lumbar laminectomy due to spinal stenosis. Postoperatively, numbness below T6 was found in his both legs of the patient. MRI showed a protruded intervertebral disc between C6 and C7. Despite urgent disectomy,...
متن کاملCervical Intradural Disc Herniation: Understanding Pathophysiology and Imaging
Intradural disc herniation (IDH) is a rare type of intervertebral disc herniation. It is more common in lumbar region (>90%), however, it has also been known to occur in cervical spine, accounting for less than five percent of cases [1]. The first published case of cervical IDH dates back to 1959 by Morega [2]. To our best knowledge, 35 total cases of cervical are reported following database se...
متن کاملSpontaneously disappearing lumbar disc protrusion.
Spontaneous disappearance of a herniated lumbar disc is known to occur. This case study describes a 45-year-old patient whose symptoms of lumbar radiculopathy resolved and follow-up imaging showed complete disappearance of the disc prolapse. This phenomenon strengthens the role of conservative treatment in the management of lumbar disc protrusions.
متن کاملHuge Sequestered Spinal Disc Mimicking Spinal Intradural Tumor
Background and Importance: Disk sequestration can be defined as a herniated disk with perforation of the fibrous ring (or outermost annulus fibrosus) and posterior longitudinal ligament with migration of the disk fragment to the epidural space. Even after the introduction of high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), it is still frequently misinterpreted as neoplastic masses. U...
